A dense column of black smoke rose this afternoon over the southern part of Tijuana, following a  large fire  near the  city’s central supply center , one of the busiest and most commercial areas in the region . The fire has caused alarm among residents, truck drivers, and neighbors, who have begun evacuating the area as the flames spread.

According to initial reports from Municipal Civil Protection, the fire started around  2:30 p.m. in a warehouse storing perishable goods located less than 300 meters from the Central de Abasto (Supply Center). The fire spread rapidly due to the presence of  flammable materials , such as cardboard boxes, plastic, and fuel.

Witnesses say small explosions were heard inside the building before the fire became visible from several points in the city.

Tijuana firefighters have deployed  more than 10 units  and over  30 personnel , who are working intensively to contain the fire. Meanwhile, Red Cross paramedics and Municipal Police officers have cordoned off the area to prevent civilians from entering.
