The women, all aged 32, dressed the man up and assaulted him while he was unconscious at a ‘Dirty Thirty’ themed bash, a court heard
Three women waited for a man to get so drunk he passed out before launching an attack on him at a “Dirty Thirty” themed party, a court heard.
The unnamed women, all aged 32, are accused of using sex toys, lube and mascara on the man – dressing him up and assaulting him while he was unconscious.
The women each face three indecent assault charges, but their defence has put forward to the court that it was all just “good natured fun”.
The case is currently being heard in the Timaru District Court in Oamaru, in New Zealand.
The women admit it happened, but now the jury must decide if their behaviour constituted assault.
Crown prosecutor Callum Mitchelmore said the complainant had drunk too much at his girlfriend’s party, and gone to bed, fully clothed, to sleep it off.
Mitchelmore said the girlfriend, and two of her friends, then wrote “lewd comments” on him with mascara pen, and then used two sex toys, inserting them between his butt cheeks while he was asleep. There was no suggestion of penetration.

Mitchelmore said while this was happening, one of the defendants was encouraging what was going on by taking photos and a short video.
“She posted those videos the next morning to a group chat, in which they laughed and joked about the night before,” he said.
“She even remarked in response to the photo ‘OMG, we are horrible, laughing face emoji’.”
Mitchelmore said that at one stage, the man’s girlfriend had climbed on top of him, “straddling his buttocks and pretending to ride him like a horse while another defendant filmed the interaction, and they both laughed”.
Further lewd writing and penises were drawn on the man’s back and buttocks, its claimed.
Mitchelmore said the sex toys were placed, at separate times, between the complainant’s buttocks, one upright, another laying vertically at the top of his pants that were being held partially down.
“All the time this was happening, the complainant was out cold, fast asleep, and in no position to consent to what occurred, nor could anyone have had an honest belief that he was consenting.”
Mitchelmore said in total, 88 photographs and one video were taken.
When the complainant eventually woke up, his girlfriend “giggled” before she showed him some of the photos that had been shared in their group chat.
The relationship ended about two months later, before the man made a complaint.
When interviewed by police, the defendants said “they were just being silly”, and “they had taken the piss” because he had talked a big game about drinking and then passed out early.
Mitchelmore said the issue for the jury was whether the defendants’ actions would be considered by right-thinking members of the community as indecent.
Lawyer Ron Mansfield, KC, told the jury they would see that “the girls thought that they would have some fun, and make a joke of it, and take photos that they would share with him, and themselves, the next day, and have a laugh because this guy, who was older than them by 10 years and had been talking up a big deal about how much he could drink was there lying on the bed unconscious.
